Student Success Stories

Patricia's Story

"When I first walked into the LCG, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew that I wanted to go back to school and make a change in my life; I just wasn’t sure where to start."

I now know that I made the right decision starting at The Learning Centre. The staff helped me set attainable goals and always checked in with me to make sure I was doing okay. The Learning Centre did more than just help me succeed in the courses I was taking, they also became a support system. Everyone at the Centre is willing to help in any way they can and they happily share in your successes. When people ask me about my decision to go back to school, I always start my story with the day that I walked into The Georgina Learning Centre; it was the best decision that I made.

Tristan's Story

“I needed to get my Grade 12 math credit as soon as possible to get into the college course I wanted. My high school guidance councillor recommended the Learning Centre.”

Within 24 hours of registering I was working toward completing my course. The teachers at The Learning Centre were always there when I needed help and could always find a way to explain difficult concepts better than the textbook. Because of The Learning Centre I was able to complete my Grade 12 college math credit and 20 days later I got an offer from George Brown College. I am now enrolled in the Baking and Pastry Arts Management Program. Thank you to the staff and faculty at The Learning Centre for Georgina for all that they have done.

Scott's Story

“When I decided to make a change in my career, I quickly realized that my lack of secondary education would hold me back in any line of work.”

I would encourage anyone to attend The Learning Centre. The Learning Centre has made it possible for me to make a career change by helping me to prepare to write my GED. I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge that each subject has presented and the quality of the program has made for easy learning. From the quiet enviornment to the smiling staff; The Learning Centre has ensured that I will pass my GED.

Samantha's Story

“The reason I came to the Learning Centre was because I dropped out of high school. I now have a 19 month old son and am 22 weeks pregnant with a daughter.”

I am here to better my life for myself and my children by getting my GED. With the help of the teachers I have faith that I can do it and finish my GED by October. Thanks so much to the staff at the Learning Centre.

Doug's Story

“As someone who had always worked with my hands, I wondered what my future would hold when I couldn’t work a physical job anymore.”

My older brother told me about a work program for older students. With the help of some incredibly patient and well meaning people I have been able to expand my knowledge and my capacity to learn to a level I had never dreamed of. How many farm boys know what a polynomial is?

Wendy's Story

"The Georgina Learning Centre played a huge part in helping me prepeare to write the GED test.

The Learning Centre gave me a place to study and learn around my work schedule in a location close to where I live. The faculty and staff kept me highly motivated and focused on my goals. I am sincerely grateful to have been given the opportunity to attend The Georgina Learning Centre while I prepared to write the GED test. In December, I successfully passed the GED test and have made myself, as well as my family, very proud.
